Review: Recipe for Murder by Lisa Harris

Pricilla Crumb’s guest list has just turned into a suspect list. . .for murder.

HSM-Recipe for Murder Cycle 1 2008Pricilla never expected to be involved in a real life mystery, but that’s exactly where she finds herself when one of the guests at her son’s hunting lodge is found dead after sampling one of her salmon-filled tartlets. Determined to discover the truth, this unconventional busybody follows one lead after another, dishing up laughter and suspense along the way.

My Review:

I enjoyed this Cozy mystery, first in a series by Lisa Harris.  While Pricilla is helping out, (as the cook) at her Sons Hunting Lodge..one of the Guests dies after eating one of her tartlets.  She is determined to find out “whodunit”.   Her long time friend Max, helps Pricilla figure out clues to the murder, while they talk to the guests ( including the victims wife ).  And..even though the Sheriff dosent like the fact that Pricilla is “helping” in this investigation, she continues to look for evidence.  Also included in this book is Pricilla’s recipe for “Lemon Crumb Cake”.  I enjoyed the interesting characters in this book, and the romance elements to this story also.  I recommend this series for any cozy mystery fan!

Look for the other books in this series:

  • Book Two – Bakers Fatal Dozen
  • Book Three – Chefs Deadly Dish

Lisa currrently lives in Africa with her Husband and two of their children near the Indian Ocean in Mozambique as church-planting missionaries,

She says – “As a homeschooling mom, life is never dull, but I see my writing as an extension of my ministry which also includes running a non-profit organization.”

So glad you loved the story! Thanks for sharing. I wanted to stop by and mention that there was a misprint with the recipe, so please be sure and check my website for the correction. (The sugar is missing) And the series will be released as ebooks soon as well. Lisa

I’m so glad I found your blog! I always have a book on hand and one on my iPhone, and I have recently become obsessed with books that somehow center around food! I will absolutely be adding this series to my list. Have you read Stacey Ballis, “Good Enough to Eat” or Beth Harbinson, “When in Doubt, Add Butter”?
