Rose Harbor #4

About the Book:

From: DebbieMacomber.com

Set in Cedar Cove’s charming Rose Harbor Inn, Debbie Macomber’s captivating new novel follows innkeeper Jo Marie and two new guests as they seek healing and comfort, revealing that every cloud has a silver lining, even when it seems difficult to find.

Since opening the Rose Harbor Inn, Jo Marie Rose has met fascinating people from all walks of life, but none have piqued her interest quite like handyman Mark Taylor. Jo Marie and Mark are good friends—and are becoming something more—yet he still won’t reveal anything about his past. When Mark tells her that he’s moving out of town, Jo Marie is baffled. Just when she is starting to open herself up again to love, she feels once more that she is losing the man she cares about. As she grapples with Mark’s decision and tries to convince him to stay, she welcomes two visitors also seeking their own answers.

My thoughts:   I’m a big fan of Debbie Macombers books and this series is one of my favorites!   Jo Marie enjoys meeting new guests and making new friends that stay at her Inn.  She has quickly become friends with her handyman named Mark.  When Mark announces that he is moving, she is suprised and disappointed.

While Jo Marie is wondering where Mark is moving to – she continues to get to know the guests staying at her Inn. She enjoys being a innkeeper and she hopes that her Inn can help have healing powers to all that stay there.

Two of her guests ( Katie and Coco ) are staying at her Inn while attending the activities at their 10 year High School Reunion.  Katie and Coco are anxious to attend the Reunion and to find some closure from some things that happened during their High School years.   Without giving too much of the story away…this is a touching story that makes me anxiously awaiting the next book in the Rose Harbor series!

Review: Their First Noel by Annie Jones

I enjoy reading Christmas stories in the Summertime. It helps me to “think cooler”!

Their First NoelAbout this book:

A spunky Southern baker, Corrie Bennington has her heart set on winning a gingerbread house contest in  Vermont. Her masterpiece: a replica of the old inn where her estranged parents met. And where Corrie hopes to  find the father she’s never known. But when she arrives in Mt. Piney, Vermont, the inn is closed—and being  restored. Handsome carpenter Andy McFarland offers to help Corrie find her dad and build her candy house. But  Andy’s matchmaking little sister has her own sweet holiday wish—helping Andy and Corrie find a little romance this Christmas.

My thoughts:

When Corrie stopped at the Inn where her parents met, ( many years ago ) she meets Andy and his sister who welcome her and they are anxious to help her find her Dad.  Corrie is planning on entering a Gingerbread Contest, and as she puts her Gingerbread House together,  Andy and his Sister enjoy helping her with it!   With the cute things that happen to Corrie, ( trouble seems to follow her ) —  This book really gets me in the Holiday spirit!

Currently reading “North to Alaska” by Debbie Macomber

2014-02-25---North-to-Alaska-(1)-reissueDebbie Macomber is my favorite romance author. Her books always take me on a romantic adventure!  She has many series of books including the Cedar Cove series, the Blossom Street series, Heart of Texas series, and her newest series called Rose Harbor.  One of the first books that I read by Debbie Macomber was one of the books from her Angel series. Her Angel series feature 3 Angels called Shirley, Goodness and Mercy.  These 3 Angels get into mischief ( sometimes ) but they are very helpful in sharing their wisdom with others!

I’m currently reading “North to Alaska” by Debbie Macomber.  This book features two previously issued stories, That Wintry Feeling (1984)  and  Borrowed Dreams (1985).

That Wintry Feeling: She’s not in Kansas anymore! Cathy Thompson was betrayed by the man she’d loved, a betrayal that sent her north, to a new teaching job and a brand-new life. Now she’s fallen in love with the grandeur of Alaska—and with a bush pilot named Grady Jones, who has custody of his young daughter, Angela. He offers Cathy a marriage of convenience, a proposal that, for him, isn’t about love. But being together, being a family, helps Cathy forget her past. And it helps Grady find a future he hadn’t expected!  – from www.debbiemacomber.com

Borrowed Dreams: Carly Grieves left Seattle for Anchorage because she was looking for a more adventurous life. She’s accepted a job with a shipping company—a job that comes with plenty of challenges. Including pilot Brand St. Clair… Despite her best intentions, she’s falling in love with him. But Brand’s a widower and Carly’s afraid he’s simply looking for a replacement wife. She’s afraid to hope that he’s fallen in love with her, too….- from  www.debbiemacomber.com

Book Spotlight – The Husband Hunt by Karen Kirst

I like to read a variety of Book Genres, including Historical books.  Some of my favorite’s include the “Love Inspired Historical” books, — with the Romance, vivid settings and a little suspense,… there is something for everyone!  I recently received this book, and I’m looking forward to reading it!

The Husband HuntThe Husband Hunt by Karen Kirst is # 4 in the Smokey Mountain Matches series, but it could also be read as a “stand-alone” book.

About the Book:

Sophie Tanner gave up hoping for Nathan O’Malley’s approval—and love—long ago. Getting married is the only way to protect her younger brother and keep her family’s Smoky Mountain farm. As much as she’d like Nathan to be the groom, he can’t seem to get past their friendship…or their differences.  Since they were children, Nathan has known Sophie was too impulsive, too headstrong. She’s forever rushing into situations without thinking them through, like this scheme to snare a husband in under a month. Nathan always thought he’d  fall in love with someone like himself—sensible, cautious, levelheaded. Sophie is his polar opposite. So why can’t he picture anyone else at his side?

I really enjoyed this story about Maxie, and  her half-sister Sylvia as they make the rounds in the chili-cook off circuit in the Hot-Cha Chili Seasoning Palace!
As soon as I started reading it, it grabbed my attention.  I really like the cute expressions and sayings that are mixed into the mystery, and I love the chili pepper costume!
