Review: Their First Noel by Annie Jones

I enjoy reading Christmas stories in the Summertime. It helps me to “think cooler”!

Their First NoelAbout this book:

A spunky Southern baker, Corrie Bennington has her heart set on winning a gingerbread house contest in  Vermont. Her masterpiece: a replica of the old inn where her estranged parents met. And where Corrie hopes to  find the father she’s never known. But when she arrives in Mt. Piney, Vermont, the inn is closed—and being  restored. Handsome carpenter Andy McFarland offers to help Corrie find her dad and build her candy house. But  Andy’s matchmaking little sister has her own sweet holiday wish—helping Andy and Corrie find a little romance this Christmas.

My thoughts:

When Corrie stopped at the Inn where her parents met, ( many years ago ) she meets Andy and his sister who welcome her and they are anxious to help her find her Dad.  Corrie is planning on entering a Gingerbread Contest, and as she puts her Gingerbread House together,  Andy and his Sister enjoy helping her with it!   With the cute things that happen to Corrie, ( trouble seems to follow her ) —  This book really gets me in the Holiday spirit!

Currently reading “North to Alaska” by Debbie Macomber

2014-02-25---North-to-Alaska-(1)-reissueDebbie Macomber is my favorite romance author. Her books always take me on a romantic adventure!  She has many series of books including the Cedar Cove series, the Blossom Street series, Heart of Texas series, and her newest series called Rose Harbor.  One of the first books that I read by Debbie Macomber was one of the books from her Angel series. Her Angel series feature 3 Angels called Shirley, Goodness and Mercy.  These 3 Angels get into mischief ( sometimes ) but they are very helpful in sharing their wisdom with others!

I’m currently reading “North to Alaska” by Debbie Macomber.  This book features two previously issued stories, That Wintry Feeling (1984)  and  Borrowed Dreams (1985).

That Wintry Feeling: She’s not in Kansas anymore! Cathy Thompson was betrayed by the man she’d loved, a betrayal that sent her north, to a new teaching job and a brand-new life. Now she’s fallen in love with the grandeur of Alaska—and with a bush pilot named Grady Jones, who has custody of his young daughter, Angela. He offers Cathy a marriage of convenience, a proposal that, for him, isn’t about love. But being together, being a family, helps Cathy forget her past. And it helps Grady find a future he hadn’t expected!  – from

Borrowed Dreams: Carly Grieves left Seattle for Anchorage because she was looking for a more adventurous life. She’s accepted a job with a shipping company—a job that comes with plenty of challenges. Including pilot Brand St. Clair… Despite her best intentions, she’s falling in love with him. But Brand’s a widower and Carly’s afraid he’s simply looking for a replacement wife. She’s afraid to hope that he’s fallen in love with her, too….- from

Review: The Last Boyfriend by Nora Roberts

  • TheLastBoyfriend200From
  • Owen is the organizer of the Montgomery clan, running the family’s construction business with an iron fist—and an even less flexible spreadsheet. And though his brothers bust on his compulsive list-making, the Inn BoonsBoro is about to open right on schedule. The only thing Owen didn’t plan for was Avery McTavish…Avery’s popular pizza place is right across the street from the inn, giving her a first-hand look at its amazing renovation—and a newfound appreciation for Owen. Since he was her first boyfriend when they were kids, Owen has never been far from Avery’s thoughts. But the attraction she’s feeling for him now is far from innocent. As Avery and Owen cautiously take their relationship to another level, the opening of the inn gives the whole town of Boonsboro a reason to celebrate. But Owen’s hard work has only begun. Getting Avery to let down her guard is going to take longer than he expected—and so will getting her to realize that her first boyfriend is going to be her last…” – Penguin Group
  • My Review:

  • This is a wonderful Trilogy about 3 brothers who refurnish a old Inn in a wonderful town called Boonsboro. As they are rebuilding the Inn, they learn alot about themselves and each other.   In this book, they celebrate the opening of The Inn, and everyone is so excited that it is open!  This story focuses on Avery and Owen getting to know each other.  I enjoyed reading how their relationship grew into something more.  Avery is learning how to put her past behind her, and to get past some emotional pain in her life. I enjoyed the part about Lizzie the Ghost, who haunts the Inn with her honeysuckle fragrance.
  • Even though this could be a “stand alone” book – I recommend you read all 3 books in order.  ** In the first book “The Next Always”, we meet the entire family including Beckett and Ryder, and their Mother who is the “driving force” behind this family as they all respect and love her.   The continuing story of Claire and Beckett in this book is really sweet, and I enjoyed how their family is included in this book.
  • There is a actual Inn Boonsboro in  Boonsboro, MD.  To read more about The Inn, visit  Inn Boonsboro On The Square .       Read an Excerpt of  “The Last Boyfriend”  visit here and scroll down.

Moonlight Road # 11 Virgin River series by Robyn Carr

       March 2010 / MIRA
       ISBN-10: 077832768X

With her beloved younger siblings settled and happy, Erin Foley has got empty  nest syndrome. At age thirty-five.
So she’s hitting the pause button on her life and holing up in a secluded (but totally upgraded, she’s not into roughing it) cabin near Virgin River. Erin is looking forward to really getting to know herself…not some shaggy-haired mountain man she meets wandering the woods.

In fact, beneath his faded fatigues and bushy beard, Aiden Riordan is a doctor, recharging for a summer after leaving the Navy. He’s intrigued by the pretty, slightly snooty refugee from the rat race — meditating, journaling and definitely keeping him at arm’s length. He’d love to get closer…if his scruffy exterior and crazy ex-wife don’t hold him back.

But maybe it’s something in the water — unlikely romances seem to take root in Virgin River…helped along with some well-intentioned meddling, of course.

My review ~

Ive been reading the Virgin River series with a friend starting with #1, and I love this series!  Each book has a wonderful storyline about a character from Virgin River,..while including… catching the reader up on the other people and places from Virgin River.

Moonlight Road starts out with Aiden hiking in the mountains and meeting Erin.   Aiden is not sure what to think about Erin at first, but he soon learns more about Erin, and realizes how he feels for her.  I enjoyed reading more about Aiden’s family including his Brothers and Mom (  love his Mom’s new adventure! )

The characters in Virgin River are generous, supportive and committed to their families.  If you love romance, you should try this wonderful series!    Once you start one of the Virgin River books, they are hard to put down!

Have you read this series?

Review: “Bunco Babes Tell All” by Maria Geraci

A funny story about Love, friendship and Community!

Berkley Publishing

♦ May 5, 2009

Meet the Bunco Babes of Whispering Bay. Every Thursday night they roll dice, drink frozen margaritas, and catch up on all the gossip in their small north Florida town. Kitty Burke is the only Bunco Babe who is still single—which is okay—but she’s thirty-five and may need to face that her image of Mr. Right is all wrong.

My thoughts…

Kitty and her friends play Bunco every week, and Kitty looks forward to getting together with her friends, ..rain or shine!  She is staying in her Grandmothers old home..( which she loves, but the house belongs to her mother ) …meanwhile, Kitty is trying to figure out a way to buy her Grandmothers home so that she can live in it permanently.  The plumbing needs some work, so one night Kitty calls her friend do the work, but Gus is not available so he sends Steve instead.

lets just say….there are “Fireworks” between Kitty and Steve!  instant attraction!

The story takes some interesting twists and turns involving a Real estate deal, the local Senior Center, relationship problems, and … playing Bunco!

***I found this book to be very entertaining and hard to put down! there are directions on how to play “Bunco” in the back of this book, and some wonderful recipes also.

Buy this book on Amazon, B & N, or your favorite online book store. Look for the second book about the Bunco Babes called “Bunco Babes Gone Wild”
